With Saldanha Drags launching in just a few weeks we thought we may whet your appetites just a little. When we had registrations at CPI Tuning it was so insanely busy we never really got a chance too see who had entered. After going through the list we noticed a legend in the line-up. For those who have been following the Cape Town racing scene for a while the name Ferroli should ring a few bells. That’s right folks, Robbie Ferroli has entered Saldanha Drags 2014.
Other than his fully equipped workshop and tuning centre that has been running for over 26 years Robbie is also famous for his twin engine, 400kw, boosted MK1 Citi Golf that layed waste to many unsuspecting racers. We caught up with Robbie to get an idea of where he has been and what he is planning to bring to Saldanha.
WCR: Robbie thank so much for taking the time to speak with us. You have always been very active in the racing community but it’s been a while since the drag racing fraternity have seen you in action. Where have you been?
Robbie: I have been doing main circuit racing.

WRC: Well I for one am glad to see you are back in the drag racing saddle. What was it that made you want to enter Saldanha Drags 2014?
Robbie: Curiosity – I have just finished the vehicle and wanted to see what it can do!

WCR: And now for the burning question…what asphalt slaughtering weapon will you be bringing too Saldanha Drags 2014?
Robbie:  It’s a Mark 2 Golf with a 1,8 20V Motor, 6-speed box with 440kW.

WCR:  I imagine that this car has been built and tuned at your state of the art Ferroli factory.Give us an idea of the vision behind the build.
Robbie: As soon as we make 500kW, I still want to make it a 4-WD – never owned a car long enough to do something like that before.

WCR: Robbie once again thank you so much for your time. In closing do you have an idea who what top speeds you will reach with you car at Saldanha Drags 2014? What do you think the car is capable of?
Robbie: We are hoping for 240 plus, but I am a bit worried about traction.
Thanks Robbie. We cannot wait to see you on track on the 29th November 2014.
